Public consultation on the achievements of FP7

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the achievements of FP7, the EU's 7th Framework Programme for research and innovation worth €53 billion of funding for the period 2007–2013. The results of the consultation will feed into the ex-post evaluation of FP7 carried out by an independent external High Level Expert Group. The evaluation is an important instrument for assessing the achievements and wider impact of FP7. In addition the aim is to improve both the implementation of Horizon 2020. The consultation collects views on the overall management of FP7, the impact of the simplification measures, and the achievements of the supported activities. Individuals, groups or organisations who have had a direct experience with FP7 or just wish to give their opinion are invited to contribute until 22 May 2015. 6th Monitoring release of FP7

The European Commission has published the sixth annual monitoring report on FP7 aimed on the program in 2012, with some innovations. The document contains several statistical analyses of participation in the program, evaluation and implementation of management and newly some specific aspects (eg. simplification, ethical issues and issues of time-to-grant). The report also focuses on the ERC, Marie Curie projects, JTIs, RSFF instrument and EURATOM. The document is available on the European Commission website ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


Special Report on the implementation of the FP7

Special Report of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) No. 2/2013, entitled „Does the Commission effective implementation of the Seventh Framework Programme for research?“ was published on 7 June 2013. The audit has focused on the rules of participation in a program and also has set two new instruments – Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs) and the Risk Sharing Finance Facility (RSFF). The results should be useful not only for the remaining period of the FP7, but also for operational setting of the Horizon 2020. R & I in favor of the European Neighbourhood Policy

This publication is a selection of projects under the FP7. Partners from the countries of the Mediterranean and the Eastern Partnership countries involved on the solution of these projects. Most of the projects were funded under the priority International Cooperation Capacities program of the FP7. Projects are grouped into nine thematic chapters and each has a brief description, a list of partners and contact persons. The brochure is ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


ERA Chairs Call – frequently asked questions

The European Commission published on 8 April 2013 a document with frequently asked questions about open call of FP7, concerning the creation of the ERA Chairs (call will be closed 30th May 2013, more info ExternĂ­ odkaz here). The FAQ document is available ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


Participation of Central and Eastern European countries in the FP7

German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) has developed an analysis of the participation of the Central and Eastern European countries in the FP7. Analysis identifies the problems which these countries encounter for participation in the FP7. More in the ExternĂ­ odkaz report.


9th report on the participation of SMEs in the FP7 published

The European Commission has published the 9th report on the participation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the FP7. The report states that for over 16,000 SMEs had some profit of involvement in one of the specific programs of the FP7. The whole report is ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


The last FP7 call

The European Commission announced the last FP7 call on 10 July 2012. The budget of this call is 8.1 billion Euros. Calls are focused on innovation and variety of social problems, and these calls are a kind of transition to the next Framework Programme Horizon 2020. Italian interest on next Health call 2013

APRE, together with some experienced Italian health Research teams, has put together a list of specific interests on the next health call 2013. In some cases, Italian researchers are expressing an interest to coordinate and in others, to be partners. The ExternĂ­ odkaz „mapping“ we are going to share with you, is meant to encourage the networking among the research groups in view of this last call. This mapping is not including all Italian interests, but includes those research teams who have replied to our request.

Preliminary topics of the Health call in FP7

The European Commission published an Orientation paper. It is a preliminary list of topics for which will be open the last Health call in the FP7 in July 2012. The document is available ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


The study of long-term impact of the Framework Programmes

The study „Understanding the Long Term Impact of the Framework Programme“ prepared the company Technopolis Science Metrix for the European Commission. The study is available ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


The new publication „SMEs’ Participation in FP7 (2007–2011)“

The European Commission published another report on the participation of SMEs in FP7. In the report is noted that the 15 % target of budget allocated for the benefit of SMEs in the period 2007–2011 has been achieved. The full report can be found ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


How to avoid financial mistakes in FP7 projects

The European Commission has launched a campaign to prevent financial errors in FP7 projects. At an event, which took place in Brussels on 19 March 2012, introduced the General Directorate for Research and Innovation a document with the ten most common errors. An interim report about the participation of SMEs in the FP7

For the 7th Framework Programme was set a target that at least 15 % of the Cooperation’s budget (i.e. mostly thematic priorities) should benefit small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This question is therefore systematically studied. Now has been published already the eighth report on the participation of SMEs in the FP7, cumulatively covering the years 2007–2011. CORDIS provides a new information service about projects

CORDIS, the European Commission web site for the FP7 has made available a new service offering more information about the projects. More ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


Calls EIP AHA

There are open calls for proposals of European Innovation Partnerships for active and healthy aging under the priority Health of FP7 (deadline 9 March 2012), and the CIP – ICT PSP programme (deadline is on May 15th, 2012). Learn more ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


Research clearing committee

The European Commission has extended service of the RES (Research Enquiry Service) of the opportunity to bring information about the inconsistent interpretation of rules and provisions relating to projects of FP7 by various project officers and other employees of the EC. These are called „Research clearing committee“, a committee composed of representatives of various general directories and executive agencies. The report can be submit by the participant using the form located ExternĂ­ odkaz here, in the „Subject“ option is necessary to choose point 12 – Inconsistent Interpretation of rules – Research clearing committee.

Moldova is becoming an associated partner in the entire FP7

European Commissioner Geoghegan Quinn and the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Georghe Duca, signed a document by which Moldova becomes a partner in FP7 from 1 January 2012. As that partner, Moldova is regarded as an associated member of the EU. More information ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


Monitoring Report FP7 2010

Directorate General for Research and Innovation published on 4th August 2011 the fourth „Monitoring Report on the FP7“, which covers the implementation of the program in years 2007–2010. The report contains detailed statistics on the proposals and financial holdings of quotas. The new features include the participation of rankings of higher education institutions, research centres, industries and regions. The report is available ExternĂ­ odkaz here.


Graphical representation of expenses of the FP7 in 2007–2013

Directorate General of EC for Research and Innovation launched a new page with a graphic representation of expenses of the FP7 throughout its duration. Separate graphs will not only provide an overview of expenditure in individual subjects and years, but it is possible to compare each other. Click on a chart to get the web pages of priorities. Participant Portal – publication of calls of FP7

Currently open calls of FP7 can now be found on the website of the European Commission called ExternĂ­ odkaz Participant Portal. Information of the calls will no longer be available on the CORDIS website.


FP7 Calls for 2012 are published

On 20 July 2011 the European Commission has published a package of calls of FP7 for 2012. New calls are open in all specific programs (Cooperation, Capacities, People, Ideas), except for the EURATOM program.
